numbering of my crazy days
June 18, 2007 by taguan
“Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
well, it was not really crazy. more of interesting, at least for me. i can’t recall the last time i went out every night of the week. but seriously, i wouldn’t be able to remember everything that happened had i not been able to document it on my trusty phone which i now christen “Andy Palm T750″ (took me a couple of months to find his name). it’s just too funny and too blessed to not share it to everybody else, so here was stef’s week in a nutshell and a few pictures:
SUNDAY: ailene was spending the weekend in our house because she hasn’t done that in a while now and she claims that she’s missed me already. on sunday night, after a day of church and vegging out, we took it upon our heads to dress up and head for the
local “dive” as ailene would call it. we met up with jacs, our erstwhile friend, who now resides in Lapu Lapu City and was in town for the long weekend.
unusual: jacs actually treating us to food. i was wearing a dress. and ailene dubbing cafe marcelo (the resto a block away from my house where i had my 18th bday party in) a “promising dive in the heart of imus.” and finding out that there are a lot of imus people awake and outside of their houses at 11pm.
MONDAY: went to Shangri-La mall to watch “Meet the Robinson’s” and have dinner with friends from SVCF (our Christian org in UP Diliman) to celebrate Jason leaving the country (hmm… that didn’t come out right). we haven’t seen some of these people in years and it was nice to see that i wasn’t the only one who gained some weight after college. haha
unusual: nothing much. except for the fact that my chum is leaving the country to be with his wife. man, it’s weird hearing my chum “the ladies’ man of SV” saying “my wife” in every other sentence. we also loved the movie. (”my head’s too big and my arms are too tiny! i don’t think this plan has been thought out well… master?”). we ate cupcakes at serendra. oh, and stef wore a dress again.
TUESDAY: went with ailene, iza, sherie, and neena to Station 1– the young adults’ fellowship at Union Church to hear Lawrence preach and for Neena to sing. i’ve only been there once before, but the Interface people have been friends since i joined them in their retreat a couple of weekends ago, it was nice. afterwards, we had dinner at som’s with tim, javy, jc (neena’s friend), ailene, sherie, iza, and neena.

unusual: again, nothing much. except my car got towed. i missed law’s message because i had to go to the impound lot to get the car. my pathetic bambi-eyes got me out of bigger trouble yet again. our dinner at som’s was a funawesomeweird experience in itself because at 10pm, we were all ravenously hungry which added to the crazy that was already there and javy raised the question “how do we all know each other?” which was another great discussion on its own.
WEDNESDAY: hmm… i only took one picture of that day. but that was the day when my depression of the week hit its climax and merited an entire post (see “redeeming of the days”). after running around in angelus, i joined sherie’s cell group at ENLI. it was a great ending to a day that had started out so badly.
unusual: it was my first time to join sherie’s cell group and it reminded me how much i wanted to have one too. i got in touch with Myla so i could join one when i come back from the states in august. we talked about names, men, and what we want to be when we grow up and we prayed. being with Godly and kooky women is always great for the mind and heart.
THURSDAY: it was People Asia’s Men Who Matter exhibit at the Shangri-La Mall. we met up with Ian (because he was featured in that issue as Christian Bautista and I wrote his article and sherie took the pictures). Neena, Iza, Law, Ailene, and Ida was there, including some old friends from the mag.
unusual: Neena and everybody else approved of my blouse
for the evening (from Folded and Hung), Ian paid for dinner, i stood in three-inch high heels for two hours straight, ditched the party to shop. sherie took the car key with her when she left for her camera club’s meeting in makati and left Law and I stranded in Shang. we hung out at the Dome instead and had a heart-to-heart talk about the state of our love lives and whatnot and gave thanks for intermittent friendships that we specialized in. Ian joined us a little later and got interrupted a few times for pictures with fans. we nearly got locked in the resto because we stayed there until past midnight already.
FRIDAY: so this was the mother of all the crazy days. first stop of the night, went to julie’s (aka the awesome Julianne) album launch at Eastwood because i’m such a fan and sherie was covering it. then, i got dragged by Tatum (whom i love to death) to a party in Esplanade (she called it a “rave.” i didn’t know they still had those. it’s so late ’90s) and stayed out until the sun came up.

unusual: nothing unusual with Julie’s launch (it was awesome), other than we found Miguel Escueta so cute. but i NEVER go to “raves” or whatever party that involves dressing up in outfits that should never be seen in the light of day (because you always end up looking like a prostitute) and putting on shoes with pointy toes (my outfit was courtesy of tatum because i wasn’t prepared for it). this night deserves its own post and maybe i will write about it someday. i got “slightly dunk” because i underestimated the powers of two stright shots of mr. cuervo into my head. i met a cute guy whose name i forgot ten minutes after. after esplanade, we went to embassy before deciding that it was boring, and ended the night having breakfast at Next Door with Tatum. coincidentally, ailene had her own surreal night as well. no, i’m not going to make this a habit.
SATURDAY: only had two hours of sleep at Tatum’s before sherie and i went to rockwell to check out a possible designer for her wedding entourage dresses. then we went to Alabang to attend the VCF youth service. yes, the irony coming from a hedonistic party the morning before a church service does not escape me. met up with Mike and Tim and their friends. we were supposed to hang out with them a little longer but after the 5pm service (which really filled up my hungry soul, after the rather empty fun night and morning of friday) my body was about to call
it quits.
unusual: having a VCF service marathon. hahaha. i loved it. seriously. at the expense of sounding madrama, i really felt the thirst for Godly fellowship after my friday night. i didn’t mind i got to hear two versions of Pastor Sonny’s message, it was really a good way to redeem my Friday of dunkeness. And i met a few nice people too. hopefully, i wouldn’t be as wasted next time.
SUNDAY: my mom woke me up and asked me to pick up neena from Tagaytay. i didn’t really mind because i loved driving to Tagaytay, but i was going to miss sunday worship at our church again. i was really craving for more church– and i haven’t felt this in a long time. but i did go to two service the day before, so i figured it’s ok, i’ll just have my own sunday worship on my own in the car. after Tagaytay, i drove to Gateway in Cubao to meet “the winnie friends” my clique in SVCF for the long overdue get-together with the girls. it was another really blessed day. (listend to another ravi z sermon on Calling).

unusual: everything was great. the blue sunday sky streaked clouds and sunshine, the open high way to tagaytay, ravi zacharias expounding on Job from my ipod, and songs of praise later. i continued my solo sunday service while standing in the tagaytay wind at the balcony of the retreat house while waiting for my sis. later on i met up with my best college girl friends– jam, jang, and daphne (we missed you kat!)– to catch on things at gateway. despite feeling sick from fatigue, it was a good time. jam and i later had our own talk and had a good cry over prayer at taco bell. it was a good ending to a busy week. yes, this day alone merits its own blog post too.
so sorry for the long post. it was too good a week not to share. and you know me, i love sharing my blessings.
hope you had a great week, and here’s to another great week ahead. (seven days until my sabbatical! wooopeee!)
