Ang Pamana: The Inheritance OST
I wish you guys got to see the movie “Ang Pamana: The Inheritance.” Sure, the title is rather redundant, but i think in the context of the movie, it makes a lot of sense to include the translation in the title. Even if we did have a lot of comments and criticisms on the way home after watching the movie, the bottom line was WE ENJOYED IT. it was really fun, with performances from the cast ranging from fantastic to better than we expected (phoemela’s). well done on the creatures and i’m glad that there was some light-handed subltely in a Filipino movie for once without aping the japanes-korean-thai horror genre.
another noteworthy aspect in the movie is its soundtrack. after the watching the movie, we’ve been trying to look for bootleg copies on the net but to no avail. good thing we’re featuring the director romeo candido and his (gorgeous) wife caroline in PEOPLE Asia (so watch out for that!) and when we had our shoot yesterday (at the awesomecreepy Bella House in Imus– just a few blocks away from our house) romeo gave me a cd of the soundtrack! excellent…
in a nutshell, the “Songs from the Other Side” the Ang Pamana OST has great tracks by up and coming Filipino acts like Up Dharma Down (who were the only ones who wrote their own song for the movie, the rest were written by romeo), Drip, Chilitees, Liquid Jane and Outer Hope. The other songs were performed by director Romeo Candido himself, and my friends would argue that “Snowhere” is the best track in there, while i like Up Dharma Down’s “Flicker,” “Snowhere” is a close second. The rest of the songs are also good, and the score by Gerard Salonga is at par with Hollywood flicks. The CD makes good driving music, mostly because Romeo’s songs has a great laid-back rhythm and atmosphere to it. It’s also good music to sleep to, maybe except for the scores “Manananggal sa Bintana” and the “Apparition.” Hehe
i give the soundtrack five stars out of five. i liked the movie and mostly because i’m biased since we had a great time at the shoot with romeo and caroline and ria limjap (co-writer of “Ang Pamana” and our writer for the article) and Niccolo, our photographer– and all our posse who were there with us. Special thanks to Pat Bella who let us have the run of his house for the afternoon.
so if you guys didn’t get to watch the movie, at least buy the soundtrack and maybe demand for a re-release of the movie. i want them to have a sequel!

i like outerhope. i was actually at the eastwoodthingy where the bands in the soundtrack played.
outerhope on the 28th is playing the music for raya’s film at magnet cafe in katipunan.
